I have completed my education from NNN University in 2001.
I am having X years of experience as SAP BO administrator. In this x years I worked on several versions of SAP Business Objects like XIR2, 3.1, 4.0, 4.1 etc. including tools CMC, CMM, Tomcat, Webi, Universe Designer, Information Design Tool, Update management tool (UDT which is used in migration 3.1 to 4.0 or 4.1) Version management, Import wizart, Desktop intelligent, Query as web server, infoview etc.
I have done n number of end to end implementation on windows as well as UNIX box (if you had worked on UNIX).
The following terms are used throughout the BI platform documentation
add-on products :-Products that work with the BI platform but have their own installation program, such as SAP BusinessObjects Explorer.
Auditing Data Store (ADS):- The database used to store auditing data
BI platform:- An abbreviation for the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform
bundled database; bundled web application server:- The database or web application server shipped with the BI platform
cluster (noun):- Two or more Central Management Servers (CMSs) working together and using a single CMS database
cluster (verb):- To create a cluster For example, to create a cluster: 1.Install a CMS and CMS database on machine. 2.Install a CMS on machine B. 3.Point the CMS on machine B to the CMS database on machine A
cluster key:-Used to decrypt the keys in the CMS database You can change the cluster key in the CCM, but you cannot reset the key like a password. It contains encrypted content and is important not to lose.
CMS:- An abbreviation for the Central Management Server
CMS database:- The database used by the CMS to store information about the BI platform
deployment:- The BI platform software installed, configured, and running on one or more machines
installation:- An instance of BI platform files created by the installation program on a machine
machine:- The computer on which the BI platform software is installed
major release:- A full release of the software, such as 4.0
migration:- The process of transferring BI content from a previous major release (for example, from XI 3.1), using the upgrade management tool. This term does not apply to deployments with the same major release.
minor release:- A release of some components of the software, such as 4.1
node:- A group of BI platform servers that run on the same machine and are managed by the same Server Intelligence Agent (SIA)
patch:- A small update for a specific Support Package version
promotion:- The process of transferring BI content between deployments with the same major release (for example, 4.0 to 4.0), using the promotion management application.
server:- A BI platform process. A server hosts one or more services.
Server Intelligence Agent (SIA):- A process that manages a group of servers, including stopping, starting, and restarting servers
support package:- A software update for a minor or major release
web application server:- A server that processes dynamic content. For example, the bundled web application server for 4.1 is Tomcat 7
upgrade:- The planning, preparation, migration, and post-processes required to complete a migration process

What is node ?
A node is a group of SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform servers that run on the same host and are managed by the same Server Intelligence Agent (SIA). All servers on a node run under the same user account.
One machine can contain many nodes, so you can run processes under different user accounts. One SIA manages and monitors all of the servers on a node, ensuring they operate properly.

What is Visual Difference ?
Visual Difference enables you to view the differences between two versions of a supported file type(LCM BIAR) or a supported object type(LCM Job) or both. You can use this feature to determine the difference between files or objects to develop and maintain different report types. This feature gives a comparison status between the source and the destination versions. For example, if a previous version of the user
report is accurate and the current version is inaccurate, you can compare and analyze the file to evaluate the exact issue.
Following are the three types of visual difference from which you can detect the file or an object:
• Removed – In a report, if an element is missing in one of the file versions, the type of difference is shown as Removed. For example, the element could be a row, section instance, or even a block.
• Modified – In a report, if there is a different value between the source version and the destination version, the type of difference is shown as Modified. For example, the value could be the cell content or the result of a local variable.
• Inserted – In a report, if there is an element in the destination version but is not present in the source version, the type of difference is shown as Inserted.
What is Auditing in BO 4 ?
Auditing allows you to keep a record of significant events on servers and applications, which helps give you a picture of what information is being accessed, how it’s being accessed and changed, and who is performing these operations. This information is recorded in a database called the Auditing Data Store (ADS). Once the data is in the ADS, you can design custom reports to suit your needs. You can look for sample universes and reports on the SAP Developer Network.
For the purposes of this chapter, an auditor is a system responsible for recording or storing information on an event, and an auditee is any system responsible for performing an auditable event. There are some circumstances where a single system can perform both functions.
What is Monitoring in BO 4 ?
Monitoring allows you to capture the runtime and historical metrics of SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform servers, for reporting and notification. The monitoring application helps system administrators to identify if an application is functioning normally and if the response times are as expected.
Monitoring allows you to:
- Check the performance of each server
- Check system availability and response time
- View the entire BI platform deployment based on Sever Groups, Service Categories and Enterprise nodes in graphical and tabular format.
- Check health of server

What are tables available In CMS database in BO ?
There are 6 tables on the database level to store the metadata.
The table contains the current version of BOE.
This is the main table in the repository. Each row in this table stores a single InfoObject. The table contains the following columns: ObjectID, ParentID, TypeID, OwnerID, Version, LastModifyTime, ScheduleStatus, NextRunTime, CRC, Properties, SI_GUID, SI_CUID, SIRUID, SI_INSTANCE_OBJECT, SI_PLUGIN_OBJECT, SI_TABLE, SI_HIDDEN_OBJECT, SI_NAMEDUSER, SI_RECURRING, SI_RUNNABLE_OBJECT, SI_PSS_SERVICE_ID, ObjName_TR, SI_KEYWORD, SI_KEYWORD_TR, LOV_KEY.
This table maps the user alias(es) to the corresponding user ID. A user has an alias for each security domain in which they are members. For example, a user may have both a Win NT alias and an LDAP alias. Regardless of the number of aliases a user may have, in the BI Platform each user has only one user ID. The map is stored in a separate table to enable fast logins.
The CMS uses this table to generate unique Object IDs and Type IDs. It has only two rows: an Object ID row and a Type ID row. The CMSs in a cluster use this table when generating unique ID numbers.
GUIDs, RUIDs and CUID are generated with an algorithm that does not use the database.
Relationship tables are used to store the relations between InfoObjects. Each row in the table stores one edge in the relation. For example, the relation between a Web Intelligence document and a Universe would be stored in a row in the WebI – Universe Relation table. Each relationship table has these columns:
Parent Object ID,Child Object ID,Relationship InfoObject ID ( this Default InfoObject “DFO” describes the properties of the link between the two objects.), member, version, ordinal, data. Relationship tables are defined by default objects.

is gantt chart available in sap bo (BusinessObjects) ?
Yes. Only in Crystal Report. Not in Webi or Deski.
Xcelsius SP4 we have a chart named Water fall chart which has the same functionality as Gantt chart.
What is Scheduling in SAP BusinessObjects ?
The schedule objective is to send a document refreshed to users with a different format and at a specific date and hour. During the schedule, the document is refreshed with the right of the sender, and the recipient receives it with the data of the sender. Because there is no view time security, and if your report lacks the option to refresh upon open, the recipient is able to see the data of the sender.
Once he has received this document, if the recipient refreshes it, he can only see the data his rights allow him to see. Therefore, if some restrictions (SSO connection or row-level security in the connection or on the universes objects) are applied to this user, they are applied during this refresh.
What is Publishing ?
The main purpose of the publishing is to be able to refresh one of multiple documents, to “personalize” them, and finally to distribute them to a large number of recipients (inside or outside the CMS). These two actions (refresh and personalize) combined are called report bursting; when the publication is distributed to large audience, it is also called mass publication.
Publishing vs. Scheduling ?
Publication offers more options and possibilities than scheduling. These are the main additional features that publication offers:
- Multiple source documents: including different documents in the publication
- Dynamic recipients: sending a publication to users who are external to the system and identified by their email
- Personalization: filtering data in the documents during the publication
- Report bursting options: defining the method to run the processing
Compared to scheduling, publication also supports additional capabilities, such as delivery rules, merged PDFs, or languages, but they are supported by Crystal Reports publication only.
What is Report Bursting Options ?
When creating the publication, you can choose from among three methods to process the publication:
- One database fetch for all recipients
- One database fetch per recipient
- One database fetch for each batch of recipients
These options define how the document is refreshed and personalized before being sent to the publication recipients. We cover each option in this section.
These options can be set in the Advanced section in the publication Properties panel.
What is The maximum number of concurrent scheduling jobs limit in BO 4 ?
The maximum number of concurrent scheduling jobs limit is 30 and never reached the value “Maximum Concurrent Jobs” set in Adaptive Job Server.
To increase the limit we need to perform following task.
- Log on to Central Management Console (CMC).
- Go to Servers Page and modify the properties of Adaptive Job Server, change the value Web Intelligence Scheduling Service to 100.
- Create a lot of parallel web intelligence scheduling jobs and run them, for example (1000 jobs).
- Go to the metrics of Adaptive Job Server, we find the value of Concurrent Jobs never reached to 100 and seems limited to about 30.
